Parking and Traffic Calming

Parking can be an issue throughout the Parish. To report problem parking go to Report It. 

Parking a vehicle on the pavement could lead to an offence of obstruction being committed. This could result in a fixed penalty notice being issued to offending vehicles. It can also cause danger/nuisance for pedestrians and wheelchairs users.To report such incidences to the police please call 101 or report online .

The Parish Council has been using MVAS (Moveable Vehicle Activated Signs) equipment to record volumes and speeds of traffic at suitable sites throughout the Parish. Analysis of this data has been shared with Buckinghamshire Council, Transport for Bucks and Thames Valley Police (TVP) in support of requests for further traffic calming measures throughout the Parish. The Parish Council are currently working with TVP with Community Speedwatch. Drivers caught speeding Speedwatch can be identified and may be contacted by Thames Valley Police.

Ben Hamilton-Baillie was engaged by the Parish Council to draw up some proposals for traffic calming in Ivinghoe, Great Gap and Ford End. Please see further details at the BHB Project tab.

Buckinghamshire Council are currently working the proposal of introducing a 7.5tonne HGV Zone for Ivinghoe. This will hopefully reduce the number of HGV's passing through the village.

Speeding vehicles is a perennial problem throughout the parish. We have successfully petitioned to Thames Valley Police for the regular visit of the Police Camera Van to Great Gap. We are also working on a potential solution to combat speeding vehicles in Ivinghoe Aston. Over the last year we have been monitoring traffic speeds in the village and the data has now been processed to give a clear view of what is happening. See the following report.
