Ivinghoe Parish Council has received lots of enquiries about Ivinghoe Beacon taking part in the National Beacons to celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Some of you will remember the Beacon was lit by Ivinghoe and Pitstone Parish Council Chairman 10 years ago to mark to the Golden Jubilee.

Unfortunately, this time the National Trust has taken the decision to not take part in Ivinghoe, they will be lighting a beacon at Dunstable Downs instead. The reasons for this are staff shortages, erosion of Ivinghoe Beacon and car parking issues.

Ivinghoe Parish Council has asked for access to the Beacon to light our own brazier, however, access (vehicular access is required for the brazier, gas etc) has not been granted and sadly Ivinghoe Beacon will not be taking part.
