B488 Road Closure at Brownlow Bridge – update
Ivinghoe Parish Council
Following this morning’s accident at Brownlow Bridge, the B488 is completely closed to through traffic. A diversion has been set via Edlesborough. Station Road is still open for RESIDENTS only from Ford End, Great Gap and those roads off Station Road in Ivinghoe. If you are not a resident or an employee of a business along this section of road between the Kings Head and Brownlow Bridge, we ask that you please follow the official diversion route.
Unfortunately, chaos ensued this morning as the only other viable local alternatives, via Cooks Wharf and also via Long Marston were also closed due to ongoing road works. The only route into Cheddington today has been from the Leighton Buzzard side of the village.
As to how long the road will be closed, we are not sure at present. The Canals Trust, owner of the bridge, are busy trying to put some temporary repairs in place, but how long it will take, nobody can really say. Till then, the diversion will stay in place.
Please note, this closure has nothing to do with the planned works due to take place in July. IPC are still in conversation with BucksCC as to the exact program of works for this.
