Congratulations to Councillor Karen Groom awarded the prestigious Banksian Medal.
The criteria was for someone who had done something of note for their community during the pandemic. Marjory Rankin speaking on behalf of Pitstone Allotment Association best sums up why Karen is such a worthy winner,
“During August and September we held a weekly collection of surplus produce for the local food bank, we were staggered by the response and very grateful Karen offered to take delivery and coordinate the distribution with Babs. What we found remarkable was Karen set up and manned a stall selling our ‘surplus’ raising some very useful funds for the food bank, thank you Karen.”
